I currently have the task of developing a term paper on a topic relative to the history of Surveying. In the course we beat ancient Greece, Egypt, and Mesopotamia into the dirt with hours of lecture, but I wanted to do the paper on something a bit more exotic. Id like to do either the Aztecs or the Japanese (post-Edo period to 1800's). Now I know that any info on the Aztec land management is relatively stark, although seeing as how Tenochtitlan was an island based capitol, some sort of educated outline must have been formed about the layout of the city. If anyone could shoot me a link or author's name about either the Aztec or old Japanese land layout/measuring systems, Id be infinitely grateful! Thanks!
